Why are we marching on the 4th Saturday in 2020 instead of the usual 3rd Saturday? This year, the 3rd Saturday is part of MLK Weekend and many people in Houston and Texas have long-standing traditions of family gatherings and community activities commemorating the Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday.
Our theme for this March is Powerful Together and we believe holding it on the 4th Saturday, January 25, 2020, empowers as many women as possible to join us and commit to being powerful together for progressive change in 2020. Spread the word, invite your friends and colleagues, and help us live this commitment that we are Poderosas — powerful together in 2020.
The 2021 March will also be on the 4th Saturday: Jan. 23, 2021. The original 2017 March was the Saturday after the 2017 inauguration. In 2021, the Saturday after the inauguration will be the 4th Saturday: Jan. 23, 2021.
